* Cases from Penge are included in Cols. 6 to 8.
The incidence of Diphtheria showed a decrease in 1936, and the
mortality was 4.4%. The type of the disease was moderately
severe.
Ninety-two cases of bacteriological Diphtheria were admitted
but these are not included in columns 2-4 as Diphtheria as they
exhibited no clinical symptoms.
The case rate (Col. 3) for England and Wales was 139. Croydon's
rate was therefore lower than for the whole country.
