In conclusion, the report shows that there is considerable disability
in school children, due almost entirely to ignorance or
neglect of simple physiological functions, and it is certain that if
children are fully instructed, before leaving school, in the fundamental
principles of communal, personal, and domestic hygiene,
the health of the school children of the next generation will show
a notable improvement.
I beg to tender my thanks to you, ladies and gentlemen, for
the consideration you have at all times extended to me. I wish
also to acknowledge my indebtedness to the Education Officer and
the members of his staff for their helpful co-operation.
The burden of the work has fallen upon the Assistant
Medical Officers, Health Visitors, and the Clerical Staff, to all of
whom 1 desire to record my thanks for their loyalty and co-operalion.
I am,
Yours faithfully,
OSCAR M. HOLDEN,
School Medical Officer.
