The above Table includes all the children examined at routine
examinations, and therefore comprises (a) children seen for the first
time, (b) children treated regularly since 1924, (c) children whose
parents had previously refused treatment.
The summary varies a little from that of 1930, but that is due
to a more detailed examination of the teeth. It will be seen that
with one or two exceptions the number of children requiring treatment
decreases as the higher age groups are reached. This is
because they have been under treatment for a number of years.
It is encouraging to see that there is a slight improvement in
the dental condition of the 5 and 6-year-old entrants. This may
be due to pre-school treatment; continuation of the visits to the
Centres will probably produce a greater number of sound
