Among the 196 deaths, 115 occurred in boy babies and 81 in
girls. 1,811 were males and 1,589 females. The infantile
mortality rate for the two sexes was, therefore: Boys, 63 ; girls, 51.
The rate of infant mortality amongst illegitimate children was
134 per 1,000. The rate in legitimate children was 54 per 1,000.
