RAG FLOCK ACTS, 1911 AND 1928.
Five samples were obtained from two firms and subjected to
analysis, the results being as follows:—
No. 1 contained 15 parts oif Chlorine per 100,000

,, 5 ,, 4,,
All the samples conformed to the standard of cleanliness prescribed
under the Rag Flock Act, 1911. The legal maximum of
chlorine allowed is 30 parts per 100,000.
SMOKE OBSERVATIONS.
During the year 28 observations were made of factory chimneys
for the purpose of detecting offences under the Act. 12 notices
were sent and amendments carried out to stop the nuisance.
AMUSEMENT HOUSES.
113 visits were made to theatres, music halls, cinemas and
premises where stage plays are given. Attention was given 10
the ventilation of the halls, sanitary conveniences, structure and
cleanliness of the dressing rooms. A report is submitted to the
Licensing Authorities annually. Notices were issued requiring the
carrying out of the following amendments:—
Repair and cleanse walls and ceilings.
Amend flushing arrangements.
Repair flushpipe joints.
Replace defective gutters.
Cleanse wash basins.
Cleanse w.c. pans.
Affix notices to lavatories.
Provide artificial light.
Provide additional ventilation.
Unstop drains.
Provide dustbins.
Cleanse yard area.
