and the prompt treatment thereof. To ensure this the active
co-operation and trust of the parents is of much greater importance.
It will take many years of continued effort, however, to get all
parents to appreciate the meaning of small abnormalities which may
cause no immediate distress but may lead to vague impairment of
health and efficiency as the years pass, or even, in some cases,
serious breakdowns and permanent damage.
