Public Laboratory.
Particulars are given in my reports for 1924 and 1925 as to
the scheme for the joint provision by the Croydon General
Hospital and the Corporation of a Public Laboratory and staff;
the Laboratory to be for the examination of specimens in connection
with infectious disease, and also of material sent in by medical
practitioners for diagnosis in connection with insured persons or
their dependents; the pathologist to be available for consultation
with practitioners at the homes of their patients. I am glad to
be able to report that the erection and equipment of the new
Laboratory was sufficiently advanced for work to be commenced
there in April of the present year, under the direction of Dr.
H. W. Southgate as pathologist. I hope to be able to deal in
detail with the work and the premises in my next report.
