One of the most urgent needs is the provision of an adequate
mothers’ and sick children's nursery or convalescent home in place
of the existing small Sick Nursery now at 228, London Road,
Croydon.
Owing to the fact that (as throughout the War) the whole of
the assistant medical staff, all the clerical staff, and a very large
proportion of the members of all other sections of the department
were on active service, the Public Health activities of the town
have, to a certain extent, been limited.
I have to acknowledge the unfailing courtesy and assistance
winch /, and the whole of the Public Health Department have
experienced from the Members of the Council,
I am,
Your obedient servant,
R. VEITCH CLARK,
Medical Officer of Health
and School Medical Officer.
