The birth rate for the year for the entire District
was 24.6 as compared with 26.7 in 1906, 25.7 in
1905, 27.3 in 1904, 28.2 in 1903, 26.0 in and 1902.
The birth rate in England and Wales in 1907 was
26.3 per thousand of the population, which is 0.8 per
thousand below the rate in 1906, and lower than
the rate in any other year on record; compared
with the average in the 10 preceding years, 1897-1906,
the birth rate in 1907 shows a decrease of 2.1 per
thousand.
