This product was made by a local baker and after full investigation,
it was concluded that a proportion of the butter in
the recipe was inadvertently replaced with margarine or margarine
and butter mixture.
A warning letter was sent to the person concerned.
Whipped Cream Bon Bons.
Buttermint Toffee Rolls.
Both these samples were reported as deficient in the 4 per cent
milk fat or butter fat content required in sweets of this description.
In the first case, the retailers confirmed that the sweet had
been described as "Whipped Bon Bons" since 1953. Further investigation
revealed that the label normally displayed was missing
and temporary staff on the counter had described the sweets as
"Whipped Cream Bon Bons" in error. No further action was
taken.
In the second case, the manufacturers agreed to make certain
modifications in the formula of the article.
