May I conclude this introduction by expressing my thanks
to members of the Council, to its officers, and particularly to all
who are associated with the Health Services, for their encouragement
and co-operation throughout the year. The Chief Sanitary
Inspector, his Deputy and my Administrative Assistant have
given valuable assistance in the preparation of sections of this
Report, and I am very indebted to them for their help and
advice, as also for their contributions towards the friendly team
spirit which has continued in the local Public Health Services
throughout the year.
The preparation of a Report such as this involves a great
deal more time and work than is generally recognised, while the
cost of production steadily rises. Positive suggestions as to ways
in which its value can be increased in future years would therefore
be very welcome.
