Ultimately, as has been noted in previous Reports, the resposibility
rests on each individual resident of the District if concerted action to
remove the possible causes of ill-health is to culminate in an experience
of the joy of really robust health. Similarly, the utmost endeavour
of each member of the community is required if this latest menace to
the public health is to be met satisfactorily by the removal of its root
cause, and complete safety obtained from the air, which will otherwise
present an increasing potential danger.
May I, in conclusion, express my thanks to the Members of the
Committee, and to my colleagues and staff, for their co-operation
throughout the year which has made my work a pleasure. Special
thanks are due to the Sanitary Inspector for his aid in reporting upon
certain sections of the work in which we have closely collaborated.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
F. R. EDBROOKE,
Medical Officer of Health.
Public Health Department,
69, Brighton Road,
Purley.
