MATERNAL MORTALITY
There were no maternal deaths in the Urban District during
1962. The maternal mortality rate for England and Wales for the
year was 0.35 per 1,000 live and still births.
Two maternal deaths have occurred in the area during the
ten year period 1953-1962, one in 1955 and the other in 1960.
DEATHS.
837 deaths appertaining to the Urban District were registered
during the year, giving a death rate of 9.5 per 1,000 total population.
The adjusted rate for use when comparing one area with
another is 12.1.
The rate for England and Wales as a whole was 11.9.
Of the Chislehurst and Sidcup deaths registered, 439 were
males and 398 females.
