POPULATION.
The Registrar General's estimate of the total population of the
Urban District, mid-year 1961, was 87,480 which is a reduction of
2,270 on the estimate for the previous year. This reduction is
undoubtedly due to the figures obtained from the Census which
was taken in the early part of 1961. The population figure gives
a density of 9.8 persons to the acre.
