No instance of shortage of water in the district came to the
notice of the Department during the year.
Three privately owned wells are in use mainly supplying water
for commercial purposes. Six samples from these were examined
for chemical content. Nine well water samples were submitted for
bacteriological examination, one of which revealed the presence of
coliform organisms in small numbers. Three further specimens
from the same source were satisfactory.
Following a complaint, the Department also took one sample
from a house supplied by the Metropolitan Water Board. It proved
satisfactory, both bacteriologically and chemically.
