PUBLIC CONVENIENCES.
Public Conveniences provided in the district fall into two
groups.
Those separate from Parks are cleaned and maintained by staff
attached to the Public Health Department. They are:—
Male and Female Sections:—
Westwood Lane, Blackfen.
St. Johns Road, Sidcup.
Queens Head P.H., Chislehurst.
Adj. Tigers Head P.H., Chislehurst.
Cotmandene Crescent, St. Paul's Cray.
Dorset Road, Mottingham.
A large group of conveniences are provided principally for
the use of persons enjoying the parks, but in several cases they
adjoin the highway and are available for passers by. In this
category the conveniences forming part of the Pavilion at Mottingham
Sports ground were opened during the year. A full list is
given below:—
Willersley Park, Blackfen.
Penhill Park, Blackfen.
The Glade, Lamorbey.
Waring Park, Sidcup (2)
King George's Field, Sidcup.
Longlands Recreation Ground, Sidcup.
Recreation Ground, St. Paul's Cray.
West Chislehurst Sports Ground, Chislehurst.
Recreation Ground, Mottingham.
Mottingham Sports Ground.
Sidcup Place. Sidcup.
Conveniences in parks are also the responsibility of the Public
Health Department but the men's sections are cleansed by the staff
of the particular Park in which they are situated.
In 1959 attendants were installed at the conveniences at Westwood
Lane, and during the current year this service was also
provided at Cotmandene Crescent. Hot water washing facilities
are available in these buildings and are appreciated by the public.
The Committee is considering whether the hours during which staff
are stationed in these buildings is in need of alteration. The present
arrangements for manning Westwood Lane and Cotmandene Crescent,
necessitates the employment of eight persons working part
time.
Other conveniences are cleaned by itinerant personnel, consisting
of two full timers and one part timer, with a further part time
