Chislehurst and Sidcup Voluntary Tuberculosis Care Committee.
I am indebted to the Liaison Officer of the above Committee
for the following information:—
"The work of the Committee has followed the usual pattern,
assisting many families with fuel, hire purchase, clothing, footwear,
etc., and for several families, holidays by the sea were provided.
We also assist with fares for families to regularly visit their dear
ones lying in hospital, thus relieving the monotony of hospital life
for the patient, and the anxiety of the families. We obtain the
closest liaison with all statutory bodies and we are particularly
grateful to the local W.V.S. who always assist if possible. The
office at the United Services Club, Main Road, Sidcup, continues
to function every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between
2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and regular home visits are also paid."

Whooping Cough.
Notifications of this disease showed an increase during 1959,
eighty-eight being received as compared with sixty-nine in the

The County Medical Officer informs me that 1.169 children
resident in the Urban District were immunised against this disease
during the year under review.
