The matter has been before the Public Health Committee
constantly and it was decided to set up a joint sub-Committee to
keep the position under review.
The number of families in residence in the Pit and on the
ground adjoining, at the end of the year, was 37 compared with 27
a year before. The persons living there amounted to 172.
Other sites in the district are on a very much smaller scale, the
largest containing four families. Most of these caravan dwellers
hold an annual licence under the Public Health Act and have Town
Planning permission.
Others are exempt, but in no instance is nuisance being caused.
