water taken from three wells in the district all proved to be
satisfactory.
Five samples were taken by the Department and submitted for
bacteriological examination and one for chemical analysis. All
were reported to be satisfactory.
Complaints were received, towards the end of the very dry
summer, of lack of pressure in mains in certain parts of Chislehurst.
It was said that this was due to excessive watering of gardens.
There were no extensions to the Board's trunk or service mains
during the year, but a programme of laying new mains and
renewing others, in the areas affected, has just been announced.
The following tables show results of samples collected during
the year and are provided by the Director of water examination to
the Metropolitan Water Board:—
