CHISLEHURST AND SIDCUP OLD PEOPLE'S WELFARE
COMMITTEE.
The following is a brief resume of the work carried out by the
Committee—
During the year, two new clubs have been opened, one at
Mottingham called " The Gay Venture," and one in Chislehurst at
Edgebury called the " Happy Wanderers."
In May 1956, 104 old people went to Paignton, and 68 to
Eastbourne, for two weeks' holiday.
Boarding-Out Schemc.
This is a further contribution to the solution of the difficult
problem of accommodation for elderly people. It is an attempt to
find comfortable and kindly homes willing to accept elderly people
as paying guests. During the year six old people have been thus
accommodated.
" Redlac," Station Road, Sidcup.
The tenants of "Redlac" have now lived in their flatlet
homes for more than two years and appreciate the amenities
provided.
Visiting.
This is a very essential part of work for old people. It is
carried out by a visitor's panel who visit the sick and lonely who
are house-bound and who cannot participate in club activities.
Special visiting of club members who are in hospital is also
undertaken.
