REGISTRATIONS FOR THE SALE OF MILK.
Sixteen Dairies and sixteen Distributors of Milk have been
registered.
The following are details of the licences issued by the Local Authority in respect of the year 1955:—

Fifty-eight samples of milk were submitted for chemical
examination, the lowest fat content being 3.2% and the highest 4.8%.
MEAT INSPECTION.
An annual licence was issued to one slaughterman during the
year. One small slaughterhouse within the area was licensed, but
no slaughtering took place there.
Routine inspection of meat has been carried out in butchers'
shops.
PIGGERIES.
There are 18 piggeries in the district, one of which is of considerable
size. Eighty-nine visits of inspection were made and four
informal notices were served. Eleven defects were remedied.
