The Old Brickfield, Church Road, Footscray, is owned by the
Council, and all caravans stationed there are licensed.
The Chalk Pit, Ruxley, is occupied by thirty-five families,
most of which hold licences issued by the Council. This enables
some control to be exercised. The site is little occupied during
the summer months during which period the inhabitants are
away fruit picking.
Corke's Meadow, Leesons Hill, St. Paul's Cray continues to
present a problem. The London County Council is desirous of
acquiring the site for industrial purposes and the provision of
alternative accommodation is being considered in conjunction
with the Kent County Council. The encampment is unsatisfactory,
but frequent inspections are made in order to control
nuisance.
