AREA AND POPULATION.
The District has an area of 8,950 acres; the Rateable Value
in December, 1939, was £547,560; and the sum represented by
a penny rate was £2,100.
The population as estimated by the Registrar-General at
mid-year 1939 was 63,160, as compared with 61,750 last year.
