RIVERS AND STREAMS.
Constant attention is paid to all watercourses within the
District.
The principal rivers are the River Quaggy (about 1,170
yards), the Cray (about 5,200 yards), and the Shuttle (about
2,800 yards)
It was not found necessary to take any action during the
year.
LEGAL PROCEEDINGS.
In no case was it found necessary to institute legal proceedings
to enforce the abatement of a nuisance.
REGULATED TRADES.
DAIRIES AND COWSHEDS.
There are 33 registered premises within the District, this
being 4 more than last year.
During the year 152 visits were paid, and in 22 instances
defects were found. These were all remedied.
MILK (SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS) ORDER, 1936.
During the year the Council granted the following number
of licences under the above Order:
Tuberculin Tested 6
Ditto, supplemental 5
Pasteurised 16
Ditto, supplemental 2
MILK SUPPLY.
During the year 152 visits were paid to the 33 dairies and
cowsheds.

Eighty-two samples of graded milk were submitted for examination, with the following results:

SLAUGHTERHOUSES.
There are 5 Slaughterhouses within the District, of which
2 are registered and 3 are licensed.
During the year 283 visits were paid, and on 28 occasions
defects were found. These have since been remedied.
PUBLIC HEALTH (MEAT) REGULATIONS.
Under the above Regulations, which came into force on the
1st April, 1935, an opportunity is afforded for inspection of
carcases of animals slaughtered for human consumption.
