Water Supply.
Practically the whole of the District is supplied by the Metropolitan
Water Board.
I made three bacteriological examinations of samples taken in
May, July, and September, and these were without exception satisfactory.
The samples on an average gave 45 colonies on nutritive
gelatine per cubic centimetre after three days' incubation at
20-22° C., and one colony per c.c. on agar in 48 hours at 37° C.
No streptococci or bacteria coli were found.
Housing, Town Planning, &c., Act, 1909.
On November 24th, I attended a meeting of the Health Committee
and explained as far as possible the requirements for
inspections under Section 17 of this Act, and proposed a method of
inspection and of keeping the records.
On December 5th the Council approved of the recommendations
of the Health Committee, which were, briefly, that the inspection
of certain houses should be commenced in January by the
Sanitary Inspector under the supervision of the Medical Officer of
Health; that details for keeping the records, &c., should be settled
by the Medical Officer of Health in conjunction with the Clerk, and
produced at each ordinary monthly meeting.
Elementary Schools.
Owing to a number of children being affected with Scarlet
Fever I recommended closure of the Chislehurst Sidcup Hill School
for a week previous to the commencement of the summer holidays.
Overcrowding.
Three cases of overcrowding came to the notice of your
officials, and were abated on notice.
