Clothing . Dud to the kindness of numerous donors and also by application
to the Women's Voluntary Services, it was possible to provide some warm
clothing to 141 persons, whilst in 34 instances, warm bedding was allocated,
and in most cases, new beds. These facilities were generally forthcoming
as a result of grants made by the National Assistance Board.
Hospitals. It is veiydifficult to secure hospital accomodation, but
the good relationship which exists between all concerned made it possible
for thirty-nine old people to be admitted to hospitals during the year,
many of whom later returned to their homes and resumed a normal life.
Institutional Treatment. During the period under review it was necessary
to arrange for twenty cases to be admitted to institutions because they
were unable to give themselves proper care and attention, and it is
gratifying to record that all adjusted themselves to a communal life.
However, it must be stressed that in some cases, considerable tact and
patience is necessary before agreement is secured and arrangements can
be made for such treatment.
