RODENT CONTROL. The local authority is empowered, under the
provisions of the Rats and Mice (Destruction) Act, 1919, the
Infestation Order, 1943 to take necessary action to eradicate rats
and mice. ill complaints received are thoroughly investigated.
Where an infestation occurs in business premises, the cost of the work
carried out by the Rodent Control staff is borne by occupiers, but in
private premises no charge is made to the occupiers when dealing with
rats, unless circumstances are such as render the imposition of
charges reasonable; further, a charge of 7s. 6d is made in every
instance where mice are found in private premises.
