DISINFECTION
A steam disinfection plant and sufficient appropriate equipment is maintained to
provide for the disinfection of bedding, clothing and premises, should an outbreak
of infectious disease occur. This service is provided free of charge in respect of
notifiable infectious diseases. Fortunately the demands upon this service were
minimal during 1972. Some requests were received for disinfection when notifiable
diseases were not involved. These were mainly in respect of clothing and bedding
and in such cases an approved charge was made.
DISINFESTATION
One hundred and forty-four requests were received for the treatment of premises and
articles infested by vermin and insects; these were dealt with by the use of insecticides
in either liquid or powder form. This service was undertaken on payment of
approved charges.
