MOVEABLE DWELLINGS
The Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 prohibits the use of land as a
caravan site without a licence. Site licences are issued by Local Authorities who may
attach conditions to them to enforce a satisfactory standard of environment for the
caravan dwellers.

At the end of the year there were six licences in force in the borough. Particulars of the licensed sites are as follows -

In addition to the above, the Caravan Club of Great Britain has a site for 80-100 vans
at Crystal Palace which is very popular for short stays particularly with foreign visitors.
The Council has provided a site for twelve gipsy families at Star Lane, St. Mary Cray
which is managed by the Housing Department. Accommodation for an additional three
families at this site is being considered.
