SLAUGHTER OF POULTRY ACT 1967
There is only one establishment in the Borough to which this Act applies. This is a turkey
farm where all the birds are raised in hygienic conditions and are slaughtered during December
for the Christmas trade. The slaughtering is carried out on the premises in specially equipped
units provided with electrical stunning devices. After slaughter the birds are dry-plucked and
put into chilled storage.
Approximately 4500 birds were slaughtered and all were found to be fit for human consumption.
