VENEREAL DISEASE
Under the National Health Act of 1946 diagnosis and treatment of venereal diseases
became a responsibility of the Regional Hospital Boards and the functions of the local health
authorities were limited to those of prevention. This involves the tracing of contacts wherever
possible, and health education.
There are no treatment centres for these diseases within the Borough.
I am indebted to the physicians at the undermentioned treatment centres for the
following statistics for 1972:-
