INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS
Independent Schools, which so desire, have continued to participate in the School Health Service. At
present 14 such schools take advantage of the facilities provided by the Service. Subject to their parents' consent
pupils attending these schools receive routine medical inspections (at the same ages as children attending maintained
schools), and also have the advantage of access, where necessary, to the specialist clinics. Arrangements are
also made as and when necessary for the special examination of any child.
During the year 910 children were medically inspected and a further 120 children received tests of vision
and hearing only.
Further details, with a summary of the various defects found at these examinations are as follows:-
