again bringing closer together the local authority service with that
of the hospital, with benefit to both and not least to the client.
Another Mental Welfare Officer is seconded to Cane Hill,
Coulsdon, 3 days each week. By being within the hospital setting
this social worker can deal with all the Borough patients admitted
to the hospital keeping in close contact with them during their
hospitalisation, acting as a link between the local authority social
worker and the hospital staff. This is yet another link in the total
treatment plan and prevents isolation when the client is moved from
the home environment.
A further experienced social worker interested in child psychiatry
is working 4 days a week at the Child Guidance Clinic and
one day within the area team. This again provides continuity of
care and brings within the Mental Health section a specialised
section in the psychiatric field.
There has been no alteration in the number of Out-patient
Consultant facilities. These are listed below.
