and this arrangement continued until July 1st, 1961 when
the Bexley Mortuary returned to normal operation. During
the period 1st January, 1960 to 23rd July. 1960, 52 bodies
were admitted and 52 post-mortem examinations were made;
12 inquests were held.
LABORATORY FACILITIES.
Pathological and bacteriological specimens are sent to
the Public Health Laboratory at Maidstone. This service
ceased to be the responsibility of the County Council as from
the 1st October, 1955, when it was taken over by the Public
Health Laboratory Service, directed by the Medical Research
Council for the Ministry of Health.
