Orthopaedic Clinic.
I am indebted to Mr. K. F. Hulbert, F.R.C.S., for the
following report on the Orthopaedic Clinic:—
The clinics have continued on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday
mornings of the month throughout the past year.
We are still severely handicapped by the conditions
under which we have to work, the building being totally
inadequate for the purpose and it is the worst clinic as far
as building is concerned that I attend. The inadequacies of
this building have been reported on previous occasions.
The type of case coming up has not altered and there
is nothing out of the ordinary to report here. Postural
deformities of the back and feet still comprise the vast
majority of cases, and I can't help feeling that efficient
physical training at school would eliminate a large proportion
of such cases and save a lot of time away from school.
The treatment of spastics still looms very large, and there
is still room for much improvement here, there being
inadequate provision for the education and reablement of
these cases in this area.
Miss Cheeseman continues to carry on the Physiotherapy
very well indeed, and our thanks are all due to her.
Dental Treatment.
I am indebted to Mr. Wade, L.D.S., Dental Surgeon,
for the following report:—
Maternity and Child Welfare. The treatments in this clinic
have followed their usual course and attendances have been
up to usual standard with rather a larger number of toddlers
being attended.
Orthodontic. During the period under review orthodontic
treatment was carried out under the direction of the County
Orthodontist and there was an increase of patients needing
treatment and the necessary appliances were put in hand.
Cases of interest. A patient at the dental clinic presented a
swelling of the mandible which was referred for X-rays and
a radiologist's report after which the case was sent to the
