The income received from the sale of waste paper was
greatly below what was anticipated, due to the fact that
several reductions in price took place during the year. By
the end of March, 1953, the price being paid for baled mixed
papers was £6 10s. Od. per ton as compared with £13 per ton
in April, 1952. In addition to the reduction in price, the
merchants found it necessary to limit the quantity taken,

Kitchen Waste is collected twice weekly from some 400
communal bins placed in the streets and sent to the Woolwich
Borough Council's Concentrator Plant at White Hart Lane,
Plumstead.
