The number of infants under one year of age who died
during the year 1946 as shown by the table is 50. Thirty of
these deaths, that is 60 per cent., occurred in the neo-natal
period (within one month of birth).
In 1945 the corresponding figure was 61.2 per cent.
Fifty were registered during the year, giving an infantile
mortality rate per 1,000 live births of 29.5.
