Legal proceedings were instituted under the Food Hygiene Regulations
1955, against the Owner of premises used for food preparation.
It was the first case of its kind to be taken in this Borough, and followed
only after repeated warnings had failed to check unhygienic practices
in the premises. The defendant was fined £250 and ordered to pay
40 guineas costs. A marked improvement in the conduct of the premises
followed the prosecution.
