WORK OF THE CHEST CLINICS
I have pleasure in submitting the following report and Table
on the work of the Chest Clinics during the year under review, forwarded
to me by Dr. Madigan, Chest Physician, to whom I express
my thanks:—
"Although the total number of patients investigated shows
an increase on the previous year's figures, the average new
attendances over the past few years has not altered very much.
The number of tuberculous patients admitted to hospital or
sanatorium, however, has progressively diminished. It has thus
been possible to utilize more beds in investigating and treating
other chest conditions, such as chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis
and carcinoma of the lung.
Out of a total of 182 new contacts examined, three were
found to be positive, two being adults and one a child. Seventythree
contacts were given B.G.C. vaccination.
