they have approached the question of municipal housing. I have
never been able to understand this attitude in the past, and now I never
shall: it is perhaps the only subject—certainly the only major subjectwhich
the Council and I have not been able to regard in the same light.
I shall always be grateful for the help given and the consideration
shown to me by Health Committee and Council. And I shall retire
with the firm conviction that no Chief Officer of any Corporation has
ever been sustained by a more loyal and devoted staff.
