INFANTILE MORTALITY, 1950.
The number of deaths of infants under the age of twelve months
was 19 as compared with 29 in 1949. The Registrar-General returns
only 18 infant deaths and the Infant Mortality Rate for the year was
19.5 per 1,000 live births.
The following Table shows the causes of death in 19 cases for
which full records exist.

It will be noted that over half the deaths were due to Prematurity. Of the infants who survived the first week of life, seven subsequently died before reaching the age of twelve months.
