INFANTILE MORTALITY, 1949.
The number of deaths of infants under the age of twelve months
was 29 as compared with 15 in 1948. The Infantile Mortality Rate for
the year was 26.36 per 1,000 live births.
The following table shows the causes of death in 28 cases for which
full records exist.

The features of the table are the large proportion of the deaths which
occurred in the first week of life, and the relatively small number which
were due to infections.
