EMPLOYMENT OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS.
the employment of children of School age consists largely in
delivering of Milk and Newspapers. Bye-laws have been made by
the Education Committee governing the hours of employment, and
every School child seeking employment is obliged to obtain from the
School Medical Officer a certificate to the effect that such employment
will not be prejudicial to his health or physical development
and will not render him unfit to obtain proper benefit from his
Education.
During the year the following 57 Certificates were issued:—
Delivering Newspapers 36
Delivering Milk 11
Miscellaneous, Errands, etc 10
The Juvenile Employment Committee are supplied with the
Medical records of children leaving School, and the physical condition
of the child is taken into consideration when recommending
him for employment.
