Maternity Home.—Details of this Home, which is situated at
80, Croydon Road, have been given in previous reports. The
following statement of cases indicates the use that is being made
of the Home: —
Numbers admitted. Year.
31 1920 (Five months only.)
173 1921
183 1922
238 1923
240 1924
272 1925
The accommodation was at first limited to 10 beds, but this has
been extended to 14 beds.
Of the 272 patients admitted in 1925, 82 belonged to the Urban
District of Penge, 156 to Beckenham, and 34 were outside these
areas.
Sixty of the Beckenham cases passed through the Ante-natal
Clinic and were charged at the Clinic Rate, viz., £2 0s. 0d. for the
period of 14 days.
Puerperal Fever.—The difficulty which the Home experienced
in making provision for the removal of cases of puerperal fever,
should this occur, has now been surmounted, and an agreement
has been entered into with the Beckenham Cottage Hospital to
take any case of this disease on payment of a sum of Seven Guineas
per week. This arrangement only applies to cases belonging to the
Urban District of Beckenham; if the case belongs to the District
of Penge that Authority has made its own arrangements for removal
and isolation.
