PUERPERAL FEVER.—The question of providing hospital
isolation for cases of this disease was under consideration during
the year. The matter has been under discussion for some time by
the Maternity Home Committee, and as the Fever Hospital Board
were unable to take these cases on the grounds that they had no
room for them it was necessary to make arrangements elsewhere.
An agreement was in consequence entered into with the Beckenham
Cottage Hospital to receive such cases of this disease as might
occur, and be recommended for isolation and treatment by the
Medical Officer of Health, on payment of the sum of one guinea
per day per patient, the fees and board of any special nurses
required to be in addition to the charge.
