Phthisis.
The number of deaths from this disease, during the year 1908,
was 36, which is equal to an annual death rate of 1.2 per 1,000 of
the estimated population.
In 1907 the rate was 1.3.
Voluntary notification is still in force, and 41 cases have
been notified during the year, as against 45 notifications in 1907
All the cases have been visited and instructed as to ventilation,
infection, method of dealing with sputum, &c.
Ten were receiving out-patient treatment at one of the
London Hospitals, or had been doing so.
Six were removed to Romford Union Infirmary.
