VACCINATION AND IMMUNISATION
Smallpox
In November 1971 authorities were advised that the Secretary
of State for Health and Social Security had accepted the advice of the
Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation that vaccination against
smallpox need not now be recommended as a routine procedure in early childhood
and immunisation programmes were amended accordingly.
During the year 1080 persons received primary vaccination and 743
were revaccinated against the disease.
