Section Eā SMOKE ABATEMENT
Clean Air Bill
Early in the year Mr. Gerald Nabarro, M.P. for Kidderminster,
introduced into the House of Commons a Clean Air Bill as a private
measure to put into effect many of the recommendations of the Beaver
Report. The debate which followed the introduction of the Bill,
demonstrated the widespread recognition of the need for action.
After a full debate the Minister of Housing and Local Government
indicated that the Government would undertake to introduce during
the Session a comprehensive measure of its own including financial
provisions which cannot be included in a Private Members Bill.
