Our satisfaction at having "prevented" a permanent placement in
St. George's was a little premature, for even with the domestic help
conditions deteriorated and before long the old man developed an
illness from which he died shortly after admission to hospital.
Efforts to keep old people in their own homes (and this must
be our objective) must obviously start much earlier if they are to be
successful.
