Notification
The following is a summary of the cases notified during the year:—
Acute Anterior Poliomyelitis 6
Dysentery 50
Erysipelas 15
Food Poisoning 17
Measles 1,713
Pneumonia 46
Puerperal Pyrexia 10
Scabies 21
Scarlet Fever 86
Typhoid Fever 1
Whooping Cough 276
No difficulty was met in arranging for the admission of cases to hospital,
and most cases went to Ilford Isolation and Rush Green Hospitals.
Acute Anterior Poliomyelitis
Of the six cases notified, three developed paralytic symptoms—
fortunately the disease did not prove fatal in any case.
Diphtheria
l am happy to record that during the year not one single case of diphtheria
occurred in Barking.
The following figures give the percentages of children, in various age
groups, who had been immunised at the end of the year:—
5 years 55.4%
5—15 87.2%
0—15 75.0%
